Camping

We’ll be staying one-night at the on-site Hannams Wakeboard Hub Campsite, a short drive from Ely and Cambridge. This is a simple, traditional campsite with toilets and showers. Your non-electric camping pitch is included in the trip price. You’ll just need to bring your own tent or campervan, along with any camping equipment you’ll need for the weekend.

We’ll be out exploring both days, staying at camp just one evening after the aqua park for dinner and a campfire. You can bring your own tent or find a buddy in the WhatsApp group chat before the trip to share. You’ll need to bring:

  • Roll-mat
  • Sleeping bag
  • Head torch
  • Warm clothes (evenings can get chilly)

Anything else, just let me know, and I’ll help you sort it!

Inflatable Aqua Park

Saturday afternoon includes a 1-hour session on the inflatable aqua park at Hannam’s Wake Hub. Expect giant inflatables, climbing walls, slides, obstacles and plenty of laughs! Your session includes a safety brief, buoyancy aid, and wetsuit (optional). No experience necessary, just a fun gig of adults slipping around the obstacles!

Wakeboarding Booster Session

Sunday’s main activity is a 2-hour beginner wakeboard ‘booster’ session at Hannam’s Wake Hub. Designed specifically for beginners, the cable runs at a slower speed than normal, making it easier to learn, build confidence and progress. Extra coaches are on the dock to provide instruction and support. Everyone starts on a kneeboard to learn the cable system. Once you’re comfortable and able to complete a full lap, you’ll progress onto a wakeboard. The session includes: 2-hour beginner booster session, equipment hire (kneeboard, wakeboard, wetsuit, helmet, buoyancy aid), safety briefing and coaching. No previous experience required.

Food & Drink

Food and drinks are not included, giving everyone flexibility to eat what they like throughout the weekend.

Saturday Lunch: We’ll stop for a picnic after our walk in Thetford Forest, so make sure you bring a packed lunch.

Saturday Evening: We’ll be cooking and eating together at the campsite, bring your own camping food and something simple to cook, such as pasta or noodles.

Sunday Lunch: After wakeboarding, we’ll head to The Yard in Ely for lunch together. It’s a relaxed outdoor setting with burgers, Sunday roast, pizza, and other options, alongside soft drinks and craft beers. There’s shops 10 minutes away from our campsite if you need to pick anything up during the weekend.

Group Size and Minimum Age

Our trips are capped at 20 people — big enough to meet loads of new people but still small enough to keep things personal, inclusive, and friendly. All guests must be 18 or over. Our trips attract a mix of ages and backgrounds, brought together by a shared love of the outdoors. This weekend is ideal for: Solo travellers, complete beginner & experienced wake-boarders, swimmers, outdoorsy social people, and ultimately anyone wanting a weekend in nature with like-minded people.

What’s Not Included

– Food and drinks
– Transport (car shares will be organised from Norfolk via WhatsApp)
– Camping equipment

FAQs

Q: What time do we need to arrive?
Arrive by 1030 on Saturday at Brandon Country Park, exact What3Word location will be sent in the chat. Don’t worry if you’re running late, just update Liv on your ETA and you can find out where to meet us. If you are car sharing arrangements will be made in the groupchat.

Q: Do I need any wakeboarding experience?
Nope! This weekend is for complete beginners, aimed at people learning to wakeboard for the first time or returning after a while.

Q: Can I come solo?
Absolutely! Most people come on their own. The weekend is hosted throughout, so it’s a great way to meet other like-minded people, that’s exactly the reason I started these camps — as a way to meet other adventurous people! Not all of your friends will be into outdoorsy adventurous activities, so find friends that are 🙂

Q: Can I bring my own tent?
Yes! You can either bring your own tent or campervan or find a buddy in the WhatsApp chat before the trip to share. Bring along your sleeping equipment and anything you’ll need to cook dinner and breakfast at camp.

Q: What if the weather is bad?
The weekend will still run in most weather conditions, so bring suitable clothing for being outdoors. If severe weather affects activities, we’ll work with the Wake Hub to find the best alternative arrangements.

Q: What’s the age limit and how many people will attend?
All guests must be aged 18 or over. Places are limited to 20 guests, keeping it large enough to meet lots of new people, but small enough to be welcoming and inclusive.

Q: Can I bring alcohol?
A few drinks around the campfire are absolutely fine, but this isn’t a party weekend. Most people are there for the activities and quality chats.

Q: Can I bring my dog?
Unfortunately not. Please leave your furry friends at home for this weekend.
