Surfing

We’ll have 5 days of surfing in Lombok, with each morning starting with a 2-hour surf coaching session led by a local instructor. With a 3:1 ratio, you’ll get personalised attention to help improve your skills and technique. For each surf coaching session, we’ll head out on an outrigger boat to Gerupuk, one of Lombok’s best surf spots. Whether you’re a beginner or an intermediate surfer, there’s a variety of waves to suit your level, ensuring you get the perfect conditions for progression.

Photos & Drone Videos? If you want to capture your surfing experience, we can arrange a local photographer to take photos or drone videos of you in action (not included in the trip price). Our instructors will also provide valuable feedback and analysis of your surfing using drone footage, giving you insights to enhance your technique.

In the afternoons, you’ll have free time to either rent a board and catch more waves at other beaches, or simply relax on the beach and explore the island. One of the days will include two surf coaching sessions: one in the morning and another at sunset, offering a unique and memorable experience.

Boat hire and surfboard rental for the coaching sessions are included in the trip price, and we recommend bringing a rash vest and suncream to protect yourselves from the UV rays in the water. Please note, any board damage is your responsibility.

After each surf session, we’ll enjoy a delicious brunch together in town, fuelling up for the rest of the day!

Food and Drink

During the trip, you’ll enjoy 12 delicious breakfasts, ensuring you’re fuelled up for the day’s adventures. Each morning, we’ll either have breakfast prepared by the villa host, or head out to explore local cafés. Expect a mix of traditional Balinese dishes and healthy options like smoothie bowls, avocado on toast, pancakes, fresh fruit, and more.

When we eat out, we’ll kept the cost capped at £10 per person, making sure you get a great meal without breaking the bank. Whether at the villa or out in town, breakfast will be a highlight of your day.

For lunch and dinner, you’ll have plenty of options to try local dishes at affordable prices, typically ranging from £3 to £8 (western options) per meal, depending on where we stop. Feel free to explore the local food scene and discover your new favourites! Don’t worry, there’s always burgers or similar Western favourites if you’re craving some home comforts.

Evenings & Social Vibes

Evenings on the Bali-Lombok trip are all about chilling out and connecting with fellow backpackers. One of the highlights is enjoying sunset drinks at a local spot with breath-taking views overlooking the beaches, giving us the perfect opportunity to unwind and reflect on this unforgettable experience with your new best friends. Please note, drinks are not included in the trip price.

After dinner, we’ll keep the social vibes flowing typically with card games, laughs and good conversations. There’s always the option to head to local bars for drinks, but this trip is more about wholesome fun connections and early starts, rather than a party vibe. It’s the perfect chance to bond and create lasting memories with like-minded people.

Accommodation

For the duration of the Bali-Lombok Surf Trip, we’ll be staying in beautiful villas for 10 nights, offering a comfortable and relaxing retreat. Each villa comes with a swimming pool, air-conditioning, and Wi-Fi, ensuring you have everything you need to unwind after a day of surfing and exploring.

On Gili T, we’ll spend 2 nights in a social hostel, staying in private dorm rooms for the best atmosphere on the island. This is the perfect place to meet other backpackers and soak up the vibrant energy of the island.

Our rooms will feature a mix of single beds and shared double beds, designed to accommodate everyone comfortably. Whether you’re relaxing by the pool or chatting with new mates, the accommodation will enhance your experience and keep the good vibes flowing throughout the trip.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What surfing skill level is required?

Our surf camp is suitable for all levels. Whether you’re just starting or looking to improve on green waves, our surf sessions are coached 3:1 with local surf instructors to your level.

Q: Can I join if I’m solo?

Yes! Most people will come solo, it’s a fantastic way to meet new friends with similar interests, maybe you’ll even go onto travel together after.

Q: What’s accommodation like?

You’ll stay in beautiful shared villas with swimming pools, WiFi and air-conditioning for 10 days of your trip, with a mix of single rooms and shared double rooms. For 2 nights of your trip you’ll stay in private dorm rooms in a social hostel for the best atmosphere on Gili T to soak up the island’s amazing nightlife!

Q: How do we get around?

Transportation is included for group activities, including all ferries between
islands. Lombok is a relatively remote island, with wide roads and minimal vehicles. Scooters (motorbikes) are the most common way to travel, most backpackers will ride scooters to surf spots, for an adventurous trip we have decided to include scooter rental. Fuel, around £2 a day, is at your personal expense. Safety first — riders must wear helmets and ride at their own
risk. If you’re not comfortable riding a scooter don’t worry we will help arrange a taxi for you an additional cost. We’ll finalise transport options once we’re on the island, so no need to decide now.

Q: Will we see turtles?

YES!! Gili T is famous for its crystal-clear waters and sea turtles. We’ll snorkel and spot these amazing creatures in their natural habitat and dive down to the famous statues on a sunset boat tour!

Q: What’s the vibe like?

Chill, adventurous, and fun! It’s all about surfing, exploring Indonesia, and making life-long friends.

Q: What’s inspired the Bali trip?

We’ve personally fallen in love with Bali and Lombok’s surf culture — it’s the perfect mix of amazing waves, stunning scenery, and laid-back vibes. Plus, we’ve met the most incredible people while solo travelling, and we want to create a space for others to share those kind of unforgettable connections.

Q: Will there be free time to explore?

Yes! The itinerary is packed of our favourite activities, though there’s still free time to explore the best beaches, meet the friendly locals (the children will melt your heart), visit temples or restaurants at your own pace, or even go out for another surf after our group surf sessions!

Q: What’s the difference between your trips and other surf camps?

Our trips are designed to give you the best of both worlds — surfing and exploring! While we’ll have plenty of time in the water, it’s not overly surf intensive, because, let’s face it, more than 2hrs of surfing a day is exhausting. We want you to experience the amazing culture, scenery, and adventure, that Indonesia has to offer, rather than just surfing morning and afternoon. Although saying that, if you’re super keen to surf more we’ll often visit beaches in the afternoons where you can rent a board for a solo surf session in Lombok!

Q: How much does the trip cost? Are flights included?

The trip costs £1,267 in total. That includes all accommodation (very nice villa accommodation and 2 nights in social hostel), all transport (including scooter rental in Lombok and all ferries and private taxi’s between locations), breakfast every day (either at the villa or we’ll go out to nice places in town), all activities (including 6 surf coaching sessions, snorkelling tours with turtles and dolphins, waterfall tours, Uluwatu fire dance and cultural tours). Flights are not included, so you can choose which airport to fly from. We will pick you up from the Denpasar airport in Bali and take you to the villa in Ubud on your arrival (included). The cost covers nearly everything else, with the exception of travel insurance and meals (lunch and dinner), which are typically around £3-8 per meal, depending on the restaurant.

We can keep our trips affordable by cutting out unnecessary overheads like admin fees and middlemen. Having spent 2.5 years travelling SouthEast Asia, we have built strong local connections and know how to offer an authentic experience without the inflated prices. We want these trips to be accessible to all adventurous backpackers. Since Liv personally organises every detail — from planning the itinerary to hosting the trips — we keep costs low while still delivering the best personal experience.

Q: What’s the dolphin tour?

On day 3, we’ll take a traditional outrigger boat at sunrise in Lovina to spot Dolphins. If we’re lucky, you’ll see them swimming and can even snorkel while holding onto the boat to watch them dancing beneath you underwater! After the magical dolphin experience, we’ll visit more snorkelling spots and finish with a delicious breakfast, before heading out for the afternoon to swim in waterfalls.

Q: What age are your surf camps for?

Our trips are perfect for adventurous solo travellers in their 20s-30s who love surfing, meeting new people, and exploring new places. If you’re almost 20 or in your 30s don’t worry, you’ll fit right in!

Q: I’ve never heard of Lombok, where is it?

Lombok is an island just East of Bali, Indonesia, it’s a hidden gem! We’ll get a ferry from Bali (included in trip price). It’s known for its stunning beaches, crystal-clear waters, and uncrowded surf spots. Compared to Bali, Lombok is more laid-back, tranquil vibe with amazing landscapes, including waterfalls, volcanoes, and lush rice fields. It’s one of our favourite places in SouthEast Asia!

I joined Liv on the Bali/Lombok surf trip and had an amazing time. Can’t believe how much we managed to see and do in our 2 weeks together, and still had the perfect amount of free time. Great vibes, great people, great trip! Thanks Liv 😊

Another great trip organised by liv! I booked on to the Bali trip after a Devon surf camp and it did not disappoint. Liv is such an amazing host. Everything was organised; trips out, gorgeous accommodation, surf lessons and transfers between! Such an amazing group of people too, sad to be home but looking forward to future trips 🌅🌊🏄‍♀️

The surfing in Lombok is excellent, whether you’re a learner in leggings like me or a seasoned pro like Liv: good mixture of waves, glassy waters, and a beautiful backdrop. The main surf town, Kuta, has lots of quality restaurants and bars too so you’re sorted in and out of the water.
